Mountainside Community Service

Leader: Anita Hicks

Community Service continues to be a vital part of Mountainside’s community outreach. cmserv Our latest effort came in the form of food baskets for Thanksgiving. Thanks to the generous support of the Mountainside family, we were able to feed over twenty families consisting of seventy-two individuals. Throughout the year, Community Service provides food assistance for families in need.

The Community Service Department is also responsible for securing food from the Atlanta Food Bank. This involves placing orders based on the needs of community, product selection and pick-up and delivery. Mountainside is an active member of the Atlanta Food Bank and is certified to accept USDA food goods which gives us a greater variety and more wholesome food selection. As an Atlanta Food Bank member, we are able to purchase our food orders for a nominal fee. Your support of Community Service helps us in this effort.

During the month of August, the Community Service Department embarked on it's first ever “Back-2-School event.” This community outreach program provided free school supplies to neighborhood children in the surrounding community. Over one hundred children in the community surrounding Mountainside visited this event to receive their school supplies. In a festive atmosphere they were entertained by Bible story and other activities. The boys received free haircuts and some of the girls got their hair braided. The parents visited tables set up by Mountainside’s various ministries. As a result of this activity, a number of parents requested Bible Study. We were blessed with tremendous support from the Mountainside family. We are looking forward to this event next year.

The activities of Community Service are very important, however, the most important goal is to be a witness and win souls for Christ. Every thing that is given away whether it is a bag full of school supplies or a box full of food it is accompanied with various tracks and spiritual materials for adults and children.

The Community Service Department would like to thank everyone for their continued support and we give all honor and glory to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as we continue to “live and share Christ in the Community.” For those of you who may not know, it is our motto here at Mountainside to Live & Share Christ in our Community. We are anxiously awaiting the doors the Lord will open up for us to serve Him in the upcoming year. Join us as we continue to share Jesus.

Acts Of The Apostles

The Church Triumphant

More than eighteen centuries have passed since the apostles rested from their labors, but the history of their toils and sacrifices for Christ's sake is still among the most precious treasures of the church. This history, written under the direction of the Holy Spirit, was recorded in order that by it the followers of Christ in every age might be impelled to greater zeal and earnestness in the cause of the Saviour.

The commission that Christ gave to the disciples, they fulfilled. As these messengers of the cross went forth to proclaim the gospel, there was such a revelation of the glory of God as had never before been witnessed by mortal man. By the co-operation of the divine Spirit, the apostles did a work that shook the world. To every nation was the gospel carried in a single generation.

Glorious were the results that attended the ministry of the chosen apostles of Christ. At the beginning of their ministry some of them were unlearned men, but their consecration to the cause of their Master was unreserved, and under His instruction they gained a preparation for the great work committed to them. Grace and truth reigned in their hearts, inspiring their motives and controlling their actions. Their lives were hid with Christ in God, and self was lost sight of, submerged in the depths of infinite love.
